Working "With" Your
Real Estate Agent

agent with Straley Realty, puts up a "SOLD" sign in front of a
client's house.

Talk It Up
Let your friends, family, neighbors,
co-workers, business associates, members of your church and clubs,
etc. know that you've put your home on the market. Word-of-mouth
is a powerful … and free … source of letting others know that you
have your home for sale.
The "for sale" sign that your
real estate agent puts in your yard should be big and bold! Let
your agent know if the sign is fading or becoming washed out from
the weather ... or if it disappears from in front of your home.
Just the Facts
Your agent will prepare a fact sheet to
give to buyers who inquire about or look at your home. This sheet
will highlight the many features of your home, especially
improvements that you've made in the past five years or so. Review
the information and let your agent know if you have suggestions or
corrections. The same is true of advertising that your agent runs about your
home.
Open House
Ask your real estate agent about
scheduling an Open House. An Open House on a Sunday afternoon or
early evening during the week gets prospective buyers through your
home. Of course, there will be lots of "lookers" and
neighbors who come through the Open House, but they may know
someone who's looking for a house with your home's features or in
your neighborhood.
Objectivity Counts
You've put lots of time and effort into
making your house into a home. However, try to be objective and
straightforward in answering questions about your home that your
real estate agent may bring you from potential buyers. If they buy
your home, they'll want to make it their home, too!
